About this Session

Ithaka S+R is a not-for profit research and strategic advisory firm that provides guidance to help academic and cultural communities serve the public good and navigate economic, technological, and demographic change. In this information session, representatives from Ithaka S+R will provide an overview of their work, discuss opportunities to join their team, and answer questions about what it’s like to work at Ithaka S+R. Employer information sessions are a great opportunity to meet company representatives and ask any questions you might have about their organization or application process.

Ithaka S+R Internships

Panelists

Jennifer Frederick is a senior surveys analyst at Ithaka S+R. She leads projects surveying directors and staff of libraries, museums, and other scholarly organizations. She uses a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods to examine organizational culture and talent management, with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Jennifer earned her master’s and PhD degrees in psychology and women’s studies from the University of Michigan, and holds a bachelor’s degree in social psychology from The College of New Jersey.

Kurtis Tanaka is a senior analyst at Ithaka S+R. His work ranges widely from designing and executing client focused consulting projects to publishing large scale, sector-wide strategy and research reports. Recent projects have focused on how academic libraries, archives, and museums can better serve their constituencies, and he is currently leading two grant-funded projects on increasing access to, support for, and the quality of higher education programs operating in US prisons. A classicist and archaeologist in a previous life, he holds a PhD in the art and archaeology of the Mediterranean world from the University of Pennsylvania.

Colette Johnson is director of strategic initiatives at Ithaka S+R. She provides leadership and support for mission-critical strategic projects. Colette received her PhD in English from Princeton University, and holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Art History from the University of California, Irvine. She also manages the Ithaka S+R summer internship program.

Maya Godbole is a PhD candidate in the Basic and Applied Social Psychology program at the GC. Her work centers around 1) identifying barriers to women’s and racial minorities’ advancement in STEM education and organizations and 2) designing social behavioral interventions to improve advancement and belonging. Maya was an intern on the surveys and research team at Ithaka S+R in Summer 2020. She has also served as member of a United Nations-affiliated NGO and as an adjunct instructor at Hunter College. Maya holds a Master’s in psychology from the GC and a Bachelor’s in psychology from University of Rochester.

Justin Beauchamp is a second-year PhD student in the Sociology program at The Graduate Center, where their research interests are broadly related to higher education, politics, and critical/postcolonial theory. Justin also works part-time for the PublicsLab as its College Assistant, and interned at Ithaka S+R in summer 2020. Prior to the GC, they served in various roles in student life/student affairs at multiple institutions, and taught undergraduate courses in leadership development, inquiry and critical thinking, and interdisciplinary studies. Justin holds a master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s degree in Social Identity Development from the University of Connecticut.
