Save The Music Foundation (STM) is a 501(c)(3) music education nonprofit that helps students, schools, and communities reach their full potential through the power of making music. For 25 years, STM has addressed systemic inequities in music education by investing in culturally rich communities across the US. Since its inception, STM has donated more than $75M worth of instruments and technology to over 2,700 schools – impacting millions of students’ lives.

Representatives will be on-hand to discuss their organization and an internship opportunity for Fall 2024 (described below). This internship is open to current graduate students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences.

The intern will be encouraged to enroll in IDS 81620: Scholarly Praxis at Work in the World, which will allow the student to earn academic credit for their work.

Position Title:

Development Research Intern

Position Description:

Save The Music Foundation (STM) is looking for a Development Research Intern who will work closely with the Development team and will be primarily responsible for prospective donor research. The intern will cover in-depth research projects covering a variety of regions and focuses, generating results that will assist with the Development team’s growth and help expand their reach to foundations, corporations, and individuals. Project scopes will vary in size and specificity; a sample research project could be compiling a list of corporations headquartered in Los Angeles whose philanthropic funding priorities include music or education. By the end of this internship, the intern will have gained insight into the nonprofit fundraising process as well as valuable professional work experience and skills.

Stipend / Wage:

$15 per hour
