Behind the Scenes with an Academic Search Committee

Date(s) - Wednesday, October 15, 2014
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

CUNY Graduate Center, room 9206

On the job market this year?  Then plan to attend this panel where we’ll have faculty members from a range of fields speak about their experiences as search committee members.  They’ll discuss how they read your materials, what they look for in candidates, and what they expect from candidates in the interview process.  The panelists will speak from their experiences both within the CUNY system and at other institutions.

Our panelists will be:

  • John Bowman, Professor of Political Science, Queens College and the Graduate Center
  • David Humphries, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of English, Queensborough Community College (David also teaches in the MALS program at the GC)
  • David Waldstreicher, Distinguished Professor of History at the Graduate Center
