Join us at the CUNY Graduate Public Interest Technology Career Fair, an exciting event connecting employers with talented professionals in the NYC PIT sector; this fair offers a unique platform for employers to engage with highly skilled graduate students from CUNY’s senior colleges.

Public Interest Technology (PIT) is an umbrella term used to describe organizations (companies, not for profits, NGOs, governments, civic and cultural heritage organizations) that plan, develop, implement and/or evaluate technology designed to serve a public good. It can also describe individual jobs within larger organizations that are oriented toward leveraging the advances or mitigating potential harms in technologies, data collection and analysis, and the use of artificial intelligence.

PIT work is inherently people and community-oriented and operates in the best interests of the people and communities it is designed to serve.

Are you an organization that is thinking of hiring someone to help you think through the challenges and benefits of the technology your organization creates or uses? Hiring PIT talent could help you:

  • Produce technologies that streamline welfare application systems, food stamp application systems, or head start benefit reporting software;
  • Audit the algorithms/platforms you’re currently using or implement new ones to assist in deliverables;
  • Execute data science or mapping projects around issues that impact the people you are serving, such as food insecurity or environmental conservation and planning;
  • Discover new ways of evaluating the impact of your programming, assist in communicating your impact to a wider audience, or lead user-driven research to improve your practices.
  • Develop ethics guidelines for technology and data use in the communities, organizations, and workplaces that you manage support and collaborate with.

The fair will bring together a wide range of employers in the PIT sector for a day full of dynamic discussion. As an employer participant, you will have the opportunity to network with potential candidates, promote your organization’s mission, and discuss internship and employment opportunities. Additionally, we will provide a catered lunch for all employers. Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to shape the future of the PIT sector and gain access to outstanding talent. Reserve your spot at the CUNY Graduate PIT Career Fair today and be a part of an event that will leave a lasting impact on your organization’s success.

Support for this event was provided by the Public Interest Technology University Network Challenge Fund, a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund.
