About the Speaker
Sarah McAnulty is a squid biologist and the Executive Director of the science communication non-profit Skype a Scientist! She believes that the first step toward improving science literacy is making science feel more approachable by building connections between scientists and non-scientists. She completed her PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Connecticut, where she is currently an Assistant Research Professor.
Science for Everyone
In Sarah’s talk, she will discuss the many ways that scientists can get involved in their communities, both local and online. She will highlight ways that every scientist, from the extroverts to the introverts, can make everyone feel that science has space for them. We will discuss how to break out from the “NPR crowd” to make maximum impact from science communication efforts.
This event is sponsored by the CUNY Central Office Career Success – Workforce Development Initiative.
Snacks will be served.
