About this Mini Course
This mini course will provide students with a robust introduction to banking and finance. The course will begin by explaining the roles of banks, hedge funds, and asset managers in financial markets. Regulators have increased their oversight of banking activities and students will learn about stress testing and capital requirements for large US banks. A session will be dedicated to explaining asset back securities and the Financial Crisis of 2008. The course covers major capital markets, equities and debt, and the main derivative markets—futures, forwards, options and swaps. Students will gain working knowledge of derivative products and their application in financial markets. The course will close by introducing the concept of credit valuation adjustments.
